Coal Camp Women in our wild and wonderful state of West Virginia were the Heart and Soul of the mining community. The challenges these women faced, and there ability to be both physically, and emotionally strong contributed greatly to the family's survival in the 1900's to the mid 1950's. Although the state of West Virginia will never forget the sacrifices the coal camp women made, The Whipple Company Store & Museum would like to pay tribute to these courageous women.
